Painting with Letters

Exactly!

For this Mesmerizing Medium Monday I was contemplating what medium to tackle and thought it'd be fun to emphasis a form that's near and dear to me...writing!

Perhaps you've never thought of writing as an art form but by definition it is "an activity that involves creating or expressing something, such as painting, poetry or music."  So there ya go.

You've heard it said "A picture paints a thousand words" but I say

words can paint a thousand mind-pictures.  Here's an example that I hope can relate this concept to you.  There will be no visuals for today as I would like you to read this piece slowly and let the images grow in your own imagination so, you too, will be an artist with your very own, one of a kind Mind Painting. I dare say the writing arts are the only sort that can accomplish this whimsy!

Summer Art Exhibit

One Summer by the shoreline
I was sponging in the
sounds and sights---
an August art exposition
compliments of the
Old Master.
As I strolled along through
the scenic festival
I was softly serenaded by the
melancholy melody
of the free floating
seagulls.
First on my austere tour were
cloud clay sculptures
wafting lazily above---
the display being interestingly impressionistic.
Delicate web weavings were
displayed in not oft traveled venues
while the seashell collages were
scattered freely in the
sandy shore.
Sunset watercolors splashed above the
glassy blue pool in hazy hues of
purple, pink and gold.
Charcoal shadow etchings of
wispy shore shrubbery were contrasted against
the last illuminating pink light of dusk.
The negative-positive resist of the
pin-poked starlight's against
the stark darkness of the night sky
quietly concluded that days
Summer Art Exhibit.
As I was lying in the still silence of
my room,
I pondered on the subtle skill and genius of
the Artist Divine
and on His creative generosity---
Softly I spoke
"Thanks and love from
me."
