Working 'tude
Too true... |
As I was doing my weekly housework chores the other day I had some thoughts (fancy that!) and, seeing as it's Thoughtful/Thankful Thursday I thought I'd share some of that brainal activity.
As I was cleansing my poop-shoot-product-catcher, I started to sigh about what an icky, routine job it was. Getting negative, I was. But, I stopped myself and thought, Why, this isn't particularly fun but I am so thankful that I can do this for myself! And it's so true. I really detest relying on someone else doing my work, partly because I'm anal about how I "like things done", partly because I
wouldn't care to wait around for someone else to do it (I've been known to show a glimmer of impatience), partly because I'm a big girl and I can do things for myself and partly because I really don't like to inconvenience people. I suppose God designed me this way so I might as well be thankful about my tasks and, when I ponder deep, I sincerely am. And again, as I was washing the floor this same day, my mind drifted to, Bah, this is a drag, but I super-quick shifted into, Oh boy, I am healthy enough to wash my own floor! It may sound goofy but I have some relatives that are getting up there in the high numbers and they can't do those "mundane" tasks for themselves anymore and I know they wish they could. I have enough common sense to look around me and learn from what I see :)
I am also grateful for music as I'm always blaring the beat on House Cleaning Day as it aids in the flow of the chores. I'm a staunch supporter of the sentiment shown on the left.
Having a cheerful, grateful attitude (sorry if I'm sounding like a Sickeningly Sweet Sue here, but hey, it's true!) when doing any "eh" task might not "make the job a game" as the Poppin Lady sang, but it sure does lighten the mood. Give it a try and join me and Doc in a wised-up whistle!
