So cheap yet soooo good

"Iz it moi, or iz it zee bocking soodah?"
I was watching some tube the other day and there is a new trend making the rounds where women, searching for that smooth face, are shaving...ewww!  It's bad enough shaving my legs (and sorry to you guys out there, both for those of you who choose to shave your face everyday and for those actually reading this part of today's posting...I apologize and promise to get off this particular topic in a few more sentences) but to resort to my face, well I don't think so.  But the smooth face did appeal to me so I continued to listen on and I'm glad I
did.  Later on in the segment some man, who

I'm assuming was a dermatologist (oops, I wasn't paying super-close attention at that point) starting talking about the pros and cons of women shaving their face and he suggested an alternative that was cheap and a bit safer and that was baking soda.  I'm sure some of you out there are aware of this beauty secret so pardon me for my lack of knowledge, but it was a light bulb moment for me!  Arm and Hammer's official directions are to add a sprinkle of baking soda (Arm and Hammer, of course) to your usual cleanser, rub in a gentle, circular motion avoiding eye area then rinse clean.  However the derma-guy said to just take a bit of soda and add water which I tired and I thought it worked great!  I was surprised how nice and scrubby it felt and my skin did feel soft and squeaky clean.  Seeing as I have now declared (it's MY blog!) Tuesday as Tips, Tricks and Treats Tuesday, I will continue on with the a few of the wonders I have discovered with my new best inanimate friend, baking soda.
Scrub-a-dub-dub

I have a glass stove top and used to buy this pricey "special" cleaner but discovered that baking soda works just as well.  Here is a how-to link...
http://behindthestudio.com/2011/06/15/how-to-clean-your-glass-cooktop/  .  However I don't get that involved as I just quickly sprinkle some b.s. (hahaha) on my stove top, wet a dishcloth and scrub away.  I am so cheap...er...frugal, that baking soda is a great way to go for me!

My two best cleaning buddies

My last baking soda trick is for cleaning spots off of carpets.  I found this on Pinterest and I'm always game to try "only two ingredients" endeavors.  Plus I also had an icky-yellow-dog- pukey spot on my carpet that I'd been meaning to clean up for about a week so I thought I'd give this a try.  Here's the original link for the proper procedure...   http://www.cleanmama.net/2014/03/spring-cleaning-carpet-cleaning-2-ways-to-diy.html
Of course, being the easy-peasy type, I just sprayed some vinegar on the offending area, threw some b.s. on top, let it fizzy which I admit was fun, then blotted it up with a, as my folks called it, dust rag.  Ding dong, the spot was dead and gone!  I probably should have vacuumed it later or let it sit longer as I think I'm noticing a shadow image festering back up, but it's not too bad and I think I'll just zap it again.  I did use it on another stain (I was so excited since the first blotch came clean so well) and that ones gone and gone; no ghosts came back on that one.

This little tricks and tips make my life a little easier and, in essence, just a bit more happy.  Perhaps you can give some or all a try and be one of us happy-pappy people and not even have to take any Vitametavegamin.  I think Lucy would agree :)

The perpetrator that caused the yellow stain on my carpet...look at the guilt on his face!
