Tattooths
Nope, the title's not a typo but an art form I'm going to feature this Mesmerizing Medium Monday. I happened upon this craft in one of my many searches for new and exciting ideas to showcase and I thought this
Hmmm, interesting
was one of those items you just never realized was out there, at least I didn't. The video above gives you most of the pertinent info if you're interested. But in a nutshell the tattoo is designed on a crown, bridge or dental transplant but not on your real tooth. According to Westbrook Dental Studio, Inc., the crown art is usually done on back teeth so only you or those you share it with (a fun prospect, I suppose) know it's there.
Something for everyone!
Of course you can see in some of the photos there are those that just gotta go for the drama and have their "tattooth" in the front for all to see. I suppose that really makes sense in a way since you're going through the effort to get a piece of art etched on your tooth, why not display it? But seeing as most crowns are for back teeth, I can see why most are done that way.
Westbrook Dental (from above) said they had their first request for a dental tattoo back in 1990 from a stewardess that wanted her initials on her molar. Her reasoning was that in case there was a plane crash her body would be easy to identify...a somewhat morbid but yet practical purpose (thank goodness it was never necessary!).
I hope these tattooth art examples made you smile with a wide, toothy grin (sorry, but a pun was most definitely necessary here) :) :) :)
