Flashback Snack Foods
Corny goodness |
Hey-de-ho all! It's once again Flashback Friday and as you may have guessed I'm going to delve into the snack food realm today. These goodies were around when I was a kiddy-o in the Swinging Seventies and Enigmatic Eighties.
Oh man, did I loveeeeee these things! Corn Diggers were a golden, crunchy, airy-ish chip, because you really couldn't call it a cracker. It had a

buttery corn taste and were in the perfect shape for dipping and scooping although I didn't do this because I loved the flavor too much on it's own. It also had a waffle texture which is always fun :)
The selection to the right is none other than Screaming Yellow Zonkers (!) and if that and the cool and crazy box wasn't enough to buy them, the taste was to crave for. They were similar to Cracker Jacks but yet not. I'm finding it very hard to describe how food tasted! I'd say a sugary/buttery flavor that was glazed onto the old stand by snack, popcorn. I read that they were reintroduced to the mass market in 2012 after being discontinued in 2007 but I have yet to find them. I just checked Amazon and they have a listing for them but are "currently unavailable". Bah!
Oh, where have you gone my Stir 'n Frost? |
Last and most certainly not least is a gem of a snack called Stir 'n Frost. This was one of the greatest cake mix kits everrrrrrrrr as it included everything you needed for your cake craving, even the pan! I mean how cool is that? I made many a S'nF cake for me and the Hubster when we were just dating. Oh, so long ago. Well the cake mix is gone but he's still here so I'd rather have it that way :)
I do miss these snicky-snax of my past and wish they were still around for those goodie-craving moments. Sigh...I guess I'll just have to grab one of the multitude of munchies available readily at the plethora of stores nearby. Oh, whoa is me :)
