Oh, why?

No!

As I was trolling around in the cyber-sea fishing for an idea for Whatever Wednesday, I caught a glimpse (fishing puns!) of the photo to the left and immediately decided it was going to be a "Why?" photo day.

I don't know if the little girl in the pic

What were the costumers thinking?

realizes what two creepy characters are behind her as she seems to be content-ish.  Santa is a bit odd himself, so perhaps she was just concentrating on the doll.

I find this photo an interesting study.  First, who designed this bunny costume and why?  They certainly weren't going for the cute Easter Bunny look which is, I'm guessing, what they should have been going for.  Instead it turned out more like Alien Conqueror Rabbit.  Notice the look on each of the boy's faces.  The one on the far right seems to actually be smiling.  However, the boy in the evil grip of the Devil-Rodent is understandably a bit apprehensive looking.  He was braver than I would have been.

Well, the nurses seem happy...
Here's a fun one (if only I could convey the emotion of severe sarcasm with the printed word).  Yes, another poor, ill child subjected to an apprehensive situation, like they don't have enough to worry about since they're sick.  There is a lot to study in this shot. The nurses seem happy enough, although I do notice that they're NOT looking at the mime-looking clown grasping the little tykes frail hand. The baby in the upper left seems a bit sad and I wondered why until I noticed that someone in a checkered suit (clown) is holding him. And honestly, why put that dorky road-cone looking hat on the kids head, or should I say face?  He sure doesn't seem particularly happy. Another question is why do adults dressed up in creepy costumes seem to prey upon tiny tykes in hospital beds?  I know that answer...because these pint-sized patients can't run away and are possibly to weak to cry.  Perhaps I'm being a bit hard on the clowns but my distaste for them and memories of crying my eyes out as a young urchin at circus time slightly skews my opinion.

Ah, I'm sure you'll agree it's so fun to dig back into the vintage vault and scratch our collective heads, sit back and ponder "Why?"
